Resism Is The Fukiest was born out of a conversation with Mental Health Connect Co-Founder and her 5 year-old daughter. She asked if her mom knew of Martin Luther King, Jr. because she had learned about him in kindergarten. Appropriate use of profanity is allowed at home only. After her mom explained that racism is a system that makes White people better than people of color and was (is) enforced in mean and violent ways, and that in our family we do not believe we are better than anyone else and we value standing up against mean behavior towards people of color, she said “Mama, racism is the fuckiest. Is fuckiest even a word?” Her mom agreed and asked her to write it down. As a kindergartener, she was learning how to sound out words and this is what she came up with.
The proceeds from this product line is split between her daughter, a non-profit that supports mental health and antiracism, and Mental Health Connect’s Youth Project.
